The Opioid Epidemic

I originally posted this as a comment on someone's Facebook post, but I think it's worth repeating.

Chronic pain and opiate addiction are a thing. After I broke my back I was in chronic pain and prescribed the strongest level of fentanyl patches available, high doses of oxycodone, and was already on Xanax for my anxiety disorder for years.

I realize it at the time but the opiates totally changed me and everyone I knew, except me, saw it. It's only been recently that I've come to accept this. Luckily by the grace of God (and the lack of insurance for six months) I quit the fentanyl patches and oxycodone cold turkey and have been free of them since April 2017.

We've lost Prince and Tom Petty to opiates, but more importantly, we've lost countless people we don't even know about, but who were loved by God and their families as if they were superstars. We really need to do something about this epidemic.
