Gotta See It: Ant-Man and The Wasp Trailer #1

This looks like the first film, only a hundred times more fun! Can't wait to see this one.

Played some IA on Vassal against Zion's Finest's own Kenny! Super nice dude!

It finally came!

Listen Here: The Movielife

I saw this interview with Vinnie and Brandon from The Movielife and wanted to write a bit about the band, to introduce some of the readers to a band they might not have heard of before.

Interview with Vinne and Brandon

The Movielife was always a band that meant a lot to me. I first heard them on on the first Drive-Thru records DVD, which had a live video of the band playing "Hand Grenade" and the music video for "Walking on Glass." These songs immediately spoke to me as they covered topics I knew quite a bit about, but were presented in a more "hardcore" way that what I typically listened to at the time and these dudes seemed a lot like me in that they looked like they liked to have a few drinks and have some fun.

Shortly thereafter they released the record, "Forty Hour Train Back to Penn," which had amazing songs like: "Jame…

My Last Minute Imperial Assault Audible for Dallas

I'm doing something I swore I'd never do again, I'm calling a last-minute audible and changing the list I'm playing. At least I decided to do it a week before the tournament, rather than the morning of.

I've been playing a Darth Vader / Palpatine list since I began playing Imperial Assault (IA), as I am a firm believer in #TheEmpireDidNothingWrong. That being said, playing this squad is the equivalent of playing Storm or some other control deck in Magic. I have fun playing it and I don't mind being beat whilst playing with friends, but for my first big IA tournament, I want to bring the pain.

I practiced with a friend this past Wednesday and learned about the hurt Jyn Odan can put on one with her Hair-Trigger ability. It's pretty annoying when I send Vader in after someone and suddenly I've got this lady shooting at me with an extra green die, as obviously, C-3PO or Gideon has focused her up. Han was also in this list and with his Return Fire ability, a…

The Opioid Epidemic

I originally posted this as a comment on someone's Facebook post, but I think it's worth repeating.

Chronic pain and opiate addiction are a thing. After I broke my back I was in chronic pain and prescribed the strongest level of fentanyl patches available, high doses of oxycodone, and was already on Xanax for my anxiety disorder for years.

I realize it at the time but the opiates totally changed me and everyone I knew, except me, saw it. It's only been recently that I've come to accept this. Luckily by the grace of God (and the lack of insurance for six months) I quit the fentanyl patches and oxycodone cold turkey and have been free of them since April 2017.

We've lost Prince and Tom Petty to opiates, but more importantly, we've lost countless people we don't even know about, but who were loved by God and their families as if they were superstars. We really need to do something about this epidemic.…

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I finally was able to take my father to see TLJ yesterday, which means quite a bit to me, as he is the one that introduced the love of Star Wars and Science Fiction to me.

Discussing the movie afterwards, we had the same feelings about the film. There were good parts, there were bad parts, and there were insipid parts.

This was my fourth time seeing the film. The first time I was totally appalled, sad, and tried to hang myself with my belt in the bathroom. I spoke to some fellow Star Wars nerds and they said they loved it! For fear of missing out, I went online, read everything I could about why people liked the things i didn't, and went for a second showing. I left the theater more upset than the first time. A week or two later I was bored, so I figured I'd see it again. This time I solely focused on the visuals and ignored the story and was pleased with the visuals.

Overall if you can get past it's glaring inadequacies, it is still a f…
